Glasses give a +4 sight bonus. Yorkshire starting zone. Armed with Adobe Suite knowledge and a decent smooth roast coffee. Indie dev hobbyist, with interests in narrative design and scriptwriting. Originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, now living in Nottinghamshire with my amazing wife and our daughter, Millicent. After languishing in a career I wasn't happy with for far too long, I decided to take active steps to pursue my passions. I undertook an undergraduate degree in English Literature (Creative Writing) around my full-time job. This helped me break into the games industry.I started my journey in games journalism, writing for a number of different sites (such as DualShockers, Switch Player, and MCV/DEVELOP) before transitioning to being studio side as a Community Manager. As a CM for nDreams, I work to ensure our community is inclusive, welcoming, well-informed, and excited for the future. Through content marketing and building on the foundation of our games and their lore (where that is possible), we have created an engaged audience. It is that aspect, developing and evolving the narrative and story behind games that I am actively pursuing as a career goal.Throughout the years, both whilst working on my own personal projects and professionally whilst at nDreams, I’ve written in a variety of different mediums, from text-based branching narrative games to film scripts and comics (the latter of which I had the good fortune to pitch to Image Comics). Whilst at nDreams, I've worked on story overview documents ahead of key pitches with IP holders/partners, as well as high-level thematic wrappers and game pitch docs.I’ve also self-taught myself relevant skills in the pursuit of learning more about narrative design and games writing, such as learning Twine, as well as self-studying appropriate literature (The Game Narrative Toolbox and Writing For Games).
